Dublin, Here We Come...

07, August, 2008

We arrived at 8:30am (see picture); an easy 6.5 hours flight from Chicago to Dublin. The entrance into and out of Customs was a breeze and all our luggage arrived one after the other which left us with a lot of time on our hands to absorb the fact that we're really in Dublin! We started the morning at the airport with a smoothie (nothing like Jamba Juice by the way) and figured out our game plan for arriving to our cousins' house. We opted to take a taxi instead of taking the air coach, which is a bus that would have taken us within blocks of their house. We figured with all our luggage, the easiest and conveinent thing to do would be a taxi.

Within minutes of our arrival to the house, Brendan arrived, and first and foremost, we were offered tea. This was our introduction to how culturally important tea is in Ireland. Before and after every meal, tea is offered as well as all the times in between meals. Many drink their tea hot with milk and with/without sugar. The first several days Brian and I were not able to fall asleep before 2am without the help of Tylenol PM; we initially attributed that to our bodies adjusting to the time zone, but after a while, it dawned on us that the tea was keeping us awake.
