It was great fun watching the Grand Slam match last year; it would be equivalent to the Hawks or Bears winning the Superbowl.
Yesterday, we decided to walk over to Croke Park, where the rugby match was held in hopes of being able to buy some decent tickets at a good price. Karma was on our side; a gentleman sold us excellent tickets for 25 euros each under face value! The seats were great, the crowd fabulous-77,686 fans, the weather dry and not too cold, and Ireland won 29-11.
Today's match was one of the few rugby matches left to play at Croke Park before they move into their new stadium, Aviva Stadium, the new home for international rugby and soccer matches. You can learn more about the new stadium at http://www.avivastadium.ie/. Croke Park, however, has much to offer Ireland. It's the fourth largest stadium in Europe with the capacity to seat 82,300 people. This stadium will still be home to all the GAA matches (Gaelic Football) and concerts.
Go Ireland!!
